High-Performance Tackifier

Phenolic tackifier resins, based on alkyl phenol novolacs, have a good compatibility to rubber due to the long alkyl chain. Bakelite Synthetics has developed the high performance phenolic tackifier resin,
Bakelite® PF 6204 K, that provides both high initial rubber tack but also a high long-term tack. In addition, there is no loss of adhesive strength when the mix is stored over a lengthy period. There are no side effects on vulcanization. The resin acts as a mild plasticizer, thus promoting distribution of the filler.

High-Performance Silicone-Modified Phenolic Resin

Modified phenolic resins offer a wide range of benefits for industrial applications including the friction industry in the emerging transition toward electrification. Bakelite Synthetics has developed high-performance silicone-modified phenolic resins, Bakelite® FD-1320E and Bakelite® FD-1246E, which provide reduced noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) in disc brake pads formulation. In addition, these resins offer flexible processability in various formulations by providing an expanded operating process window.
