ATLANTA, GA – January 22, 2024 – EcoVadis, a global business sustainability ratings provider, has awarded Bakelite Synthetics a bronze-medal rating for its sustainability policies, actions and results. The award recognizes Bakelite’s commendable environmental, social and ethical performance.
This is the first year Bakelite has participated in an assessment, according to EcoVadis a bronze rating is a noteworthy achievement for a company participating in an assessment for the first time.
Bakelite’s assessment indicates that Bakelite has a structured and proactive sustainability approach, policies and tangible actions on major issues, and basic reporting on actions or performance indicators.
EcoVadis’ methodology is based on leading international sustainability standards, including the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards, the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) 10 Principles, and the ISO 26000 standards. The assessment is supervised by an international scientific committee.
To earn an EcoVadis rating, companies are assessed across 21 sustainability criteria within four themes: Environment, Ethics, Labor & Human Rights, and Sustainable Procurement. Bakelite scored its highest marks in the Environment and Labor & Human Rights categories.
