Bakelite respects your privacy and protect your personal data. We collect, process and use your personal data only in accordance with the content of this Privacy Policy and the applicable data protection regulations, in particular the GDPR. This Privacy Policy describes the information collection, processing, use, and disclosure practices of the website, hosted at www.bakelite.com (the “Site”). Please read the following information carefully.

From time to time, Bakelite may make changes to this Privacy Policy. Such changes do not have retroactive effect, they only apply to our future practice. Any such future modifications to this Privacy Policy will be posted on the Site, with an updated “Revised” date at the top. Your continued use of the Site after any changes have been posted constitutes your agreement to those changes.

Information Collection and Use

Personal Information

Whenever you browse the Site, Bakelite’s web server will temporarily log each access to its log file. Through this process, Bakelite will collect and store the below data until they are deleted in accordance with statutory requirements:

  • IP address of requesting system
  • Time and date of access
  • Name and URL of the data accessed on our web server
  • Transferred data volume
  • Confirmation whether download was successful
  • Header information identifying the requesting browser and operating system

Some of this information constituted personal data, i.e. information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person (the “Data Subject”). Bakelite processes this data only to the extent required for the purposes of providing access to the content of the Site and to secure and administer Bakelite’s system. The IP address will only be analyzed in case of security incidents on Bakelite’s systems. As such, the processing is based on our legitimate interests. Our legitimate interests are, in addition to system security and stability, the evaluation of the usage data of our website, prosecution of legal claims, the investigation of criminal offences and the maintenance of our IT security systems. The personal data are stored for only as long as necessary for the purposes for which they are processed.

You may browse most areas of the Site without providing any further personal information to Bakelite. To access some services or areas on the Site, you may be asked to register and to provide information about you and/or your company such as name, job title, email address, and other information.  This information will enable Bakelite to provide services and/or information to you. If you order products or use certain services available through this Site, you may be asked to provide further information, including, but not limited to, billing information (such as credit card account information), product information, and other personal information. Bakelite may also collect other information from you when you provide comments or participate in surveys. The type of information collected is always transparent to you in advance, as the relevant registration process or survey will ask for such information explicitly. We use such personal information to provide our services and otherwise operate our business, consistent with this Privacy Policy and any notice that may be provided at the time of collection. If you chose to use the online job search program, you will be asked to provide additional information about yourself that is required as part of the application process, such as your address and other contact information, your educational history, or your work history.  The members of our Human Resources staff will review and process your application, and the information you provide may become part of your personnel file if you accept a job at Bakelite. Even if you do not accept a job, the information you provide may also be kept on file for purposes of identifying future employment opportunities for you at Bakelite, subject to your prior consent.

Sharing of Information with Third Parties

When you provide information to Bakelite, it may be shared with third party service providers within and outside your domestic region to perform processing tasks or business functions for us or on our behalf. This includes fulfilling your requests, managing our customer relations and offering you Bakelite products and services. Bakelite does not share, sell, or lease personal information about you to any third parties for direct marketing use without your prior consent. Bakelite may disclose information about you to third parties if we believe that we have a legal obligation to do so or where we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, and/or comply with a judicial proceeding, court order, or legal process.  In the event Bakelite merges with another company, or another company acquires all or part of Bakelite’s assets, including without limitation, in the event of bankruptcy, personal information compiled or owned by Bakelite may be among the items transferred in that transaction. In addition, the information you provide may be shared with Bakelite operating units or departments, as well as affiliates or other companies under ownership of Bakelite Inc. Some of these affiliates or other companies under ownership of Bakelite Inc. may be based in countries with different data protection laws, however Bakelite ensures that your personal data is adequately protected by the recipient within the framework of data protection agreements based on the EU standard data protection clauses, if applicable. Also, before we transfer your information to third parties, we take reasonable steps to ensure that recipients are committed to complying with applicable data protection laws and to keeping personal data confidential. Rights of Data Subjects

Insofar as you have given your consent to the processing of personal data, you may revoke this consent at any time with effect for the future. The revocation of consent does not affect the lawfulness of the processing carried out on the basis of the consent until the revocation.   • Right of confirmation

You can obtain the confirmation as to whether or not personal data concerning are being processed.

  • Right to object to processing

If the legal basis for processing is based on Bakelite’s legitimate interests, you have the right to object at any time to the processing of your personal data on grounds relating to your particular situation.   • Right to access, restriction, erasure and rectification

In accordance with the applicable provisions, you have the right to request information about your stored personal data, its origin and recipients and the purpose of the processing free of charge, and you may have a right to rectification, restriction of the processing or erasure of such data.

The right to restriction applies in the following cases:
