Bakelite Hexamethylenetetramine

…more commonly known as Hexamine, is made from ammonia and formaldehyde. It is an efficient crosslinker with no water release and is a formaldehyde donor when used in an aqueous acidic environment. Available in aqueous solutions, it is used in a variety of industrial applications, including:

Curing agent for industrial phenolic resins
Chemical intermediate/chemical synthesis
Rubber cross-linker
Metal and Rubber hardening agent
Ballistics and munitions for civil and military applications
Reagent in inorganic chemistries

Hexamine is used to create many ballistics and munitions within the US.
Formaldehyde-based resins also produce lightweight, durable ballistics.
