Every year, downtown Hamburg, Arkansas comes to life for the World’s Famous Armadillo Festival. Now in its 55th year, the beloved event has grown from a small-town gathering into a celebrated tradition that brings the community together for a day of connection, fun, and purpose.
For the Bakelite team in Crossett, the festival is more than a local event. It is one example of how Bakelite brings its commitment to community engagement to life, supporting the communities where associates live and work through meaningful, local involvement.
At this year’s festival, the Bakelite Crossett Community Committee hosted a tent on the square, welcoming visitors and selling raffle tickets in support of Hope at Home, a local nonprofit that supports cancer patients and their caregivers across Ashley County. Proceeds help cover essential, everyday needs such as prescriptions, transportation, and medical care, easing the burden for families when they need it most.
Throughout the day, festivalgoers stopped by to connect, share stories, and take in the lively atmosphere. Terry Meeks, Store Associate, added to the fun as the festival’s beloved armadillo, bringing smiles to kids and adults alike as she made her way through the square.
While the Armadillo Festival brings energy and tradition to Hamburg each year, its impact extends far beyond a single day. Efforts like these reflect a broader commitment to strengthening communities and supporting families facing difficult challenges.
By showing up, engaging, and giving back, the Crossett team continues to put Bakelite’s commitment to community into action.
