Bakelite Names Paul Vogt as EVP and GM, Americas

Bakelite Synthetics Names Paul Vogt as Executive Vice President and General Manager, Americas

ATLANTA – January 15, 2025 – Bakelite Synthetics (“the Company”) announced that Paul Vogt has been named Executive Vice President and General Manager, Americas.

In his new role, Vogt will oversee the North and South American regions of Bakelite’s manufacturing, commercial, technology, research and development, and supply chain functions. Vogt joined Bakelite in 2021 as Executive Vice President and Chief Procurement Officer.

“Paul has been an instrumental leader of the Bakelite Procurement organization for the last three years,” said JP Aucoin, President and Chief Executive Officer. “His more than 25 years of experience in the chemical industry in the areas of manufacturing, operations, research and development, transformational growth and strategy position him to be successful in this next role as the leader of the Americas region.”

The Company also announced that Curtis Shelast, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Americas will transition to the new role of Executive Vice President, Corporate Strategy. In his new role Shelast will support and collaborate with key leaders on strategic initiatives to achieve business objectives and drive growth.

“Curtis has been a critical member of the Bakelite and legacy company teams for more than 35 years, most recently as Executive Vice President and General Manager, Americas, leading the Americas region through significant growth and strong performance, including the transformative integration of Georgia-Pacific Chemicals and LRBG,” said Aucoin. “Curtis’ vast experience with Bakelite and the industry position him well in this strategic role to help our organization align the right resources, processes and tools to safely and efficiently meet the needs of our customers.”
