Bakelite Brings Industry Priorities to Capitol Hill

From Capitol Hill to the White House, Bakelite was part of conversations helping shape the future of the composites industry.

Representing Bakelite at the American Composites Manufacturers Association (ACMA) 2026 Composites Fly-In, our own Adam Dyer, Fabio Tomczak and Jesse Neese joined more than 100 manufacturers, suppliers and industry leaders in Washington, D.C., to advocate for issues impacting the composites sector.

During the event, participants engaged with policymakers and government officials on several key priorities, including:

  • Renewal of the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA)
  • Establishment of specific North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) codes for the composites industry
  • New rules for measuring and reporting recycled content using a mass balance approach
  • Support for proposed revisions to the Toxic Substances Control Act

The fly-in included more than 90 meetings with congressional offices, federal agencies and other government stakeholders, including discussions with members of the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate, as well as representatives from the Small Business Administration, the Department of Defense and the White House.

In addition to advocating for industry priorities, the event provided valuable opportunities to connect with customers, prospective customers and executive leaders throughout the composites value chain. These conversations offered insight into evolving market needs while reinforcing Bakelite’s commitment to supporting the industries it serves.

As a returning participant in the ACMA Fly-In, Bakelite values opportunities to contribute to discussions that influence the future of the composites market. Through active engagement with policymakers, customers and industry partners, Bakelite continues to help advance solutions that support innovation, sustainability and long-term industry growth.
