Bakelite’s Solbiate site hosted its annual Safety Day on December 19. The event reinforces Bakelite’s commitment to safety as a core value and provided valuable best practices for associates.
The event kicked off with a welcome from Solbiate Site Leader Felice De Angelis, followed by a presentation by Sustainable Supply Chain representative Maria Grazia Rossetti, who provided an overview of Solbiate’s sustainability initiatives. The day continued with a discussion about first aid management, key behaviors in emergencies and natural disasters and a hands-on demonstration on the use of exoskeletons for lifting heavy loads.
Associates also broke into teams to participate in various hands-on safety activities, including:
- A “chemistry at home” game
- A challenge focused on plastics in the age of consumerism
- Dressing up as a firefighting team in the correct way in the shortest time possible
- A “forklift golden rules” game
- EHS crosswords
- Life Saving Rules memory game
The day concluded with a Teams conference with Hernan Sandoval, Plant Manager at Concepcion, and Debora Costa, Vice President, EHS, sharing safety day best practices.
