Honoring Bob Breyer: A Champion for the Forest Products Industry

The Forest Products Society’s Distinguished Service Award recognizes Bob’s career-long commitment to advancing the field and supporting future generations of talent.

Principal Scientist Bob Breyer has received the Forest Products Society (FPS) Distinguished Service Award, recognizing his outstanding contributions to the forest products and biomaterials sectors.

Presented during the FPS International Conference in Eugene, Oregon, the award honors individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the society and the broader forest products community throughout their careers.

Over the course of nearly 35 years with Bakelite, Bob has helped advance resin technology and support the digital transformation, shaping the business. In addition to his technical expertise, he has devoted considerable time to the FPS and the Wood-Based Composites Center, an industry-university partnership that promotes innovation in wood composites and helps prepare tomorrow’s workforce.

Bob’s impact extends far beyond his technical contributions. Through roles including President and Vice President of FPS, as well as his commitment to mentoring students and those early in their careers, he has left a lasting mark through his dedication to knowledge-sharing and mentorship.

The Distinguished Service Award is a fitting recognition of Bob’s impact on the forest products community and the many people he has supported throughout his career.

Bakelite congratulates Bob on this well-deserved honor and thanks him for his many contributions to the company and the industry.
