Women’s History Month Spotlight: Andrea Revilla — Breaking Barriers in Lantarón’s Production Operations

Each March, Bakelite celebrates Women’s History Month by honoring the women whose leadership, resilience, and talent shape our culture and our future. In partnership with the Bakelite Women’s Network (BWN), we continue highlighting remarkable women across our global organization whose contributions create meaningful impact. Today, we proudly spotlight Andrea Revilla, the first woman to hold an operator role at our Lantarón site. Her achievement represents a significant milestone for both her career and Bakelite’s commitment to building an inclusive, equitable workplace.

A Milestone of Progress

For Andrea, stepping into this pioneering role carried deep purpose and gratitude. “It represents a meaningful milestone… as it reflects genuine progress toward equality and the recognition that talent and dedication should be valued regardless of gender,” she shared. Her accomplishment expands opportunities within industrial and chemical operations, sectors where women have historically been underrepresented, and reinforces Bakelite’s commitment to fostering advancement for all associates.

Passion Without Limits

Andrea’s path into operations was shaped by her genuine interest in industrial and chemical processes. “I saw this role as a path for professional growth and as an opportunity to demonstrate that talent and dedication have nothing to do with gender,” she explained. Her drive reflects the determination of women throughout history who have pursued careers in fields where representation was limited, creating space for those who follow.

Embracing the Challenge

As the first woman in this position at Lantarón, Andrea encountered challenges ranging from the physical demands of the role to integrating into a traditionally all‑male environment. She navigated each with professionalism, curiosity, and resilience. “With the right tools and methods, any perceived limitation can be overcome,” she noted. Her teammates welcomed her with respect, and over time, collaboration and trust grew, strengthening the team as a whole.

Redefining What’s Possible

Andrea’s strengths—responsibility, consistency, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous learning—have helped shift perceptions of what an operator can be. “I hope my joining the team serves as a positive example,” she said. While she remains the only woman in the production area today, she is confident that she will not be the last. Her success has already encouraged broader conversations about opportunities for women in operations.

A Source of Pride

Among Andrea’s proudest achievements is gaining full autonomy in her role. “Meeting the role standards day after day represents meaningful satisfaction,” she shared. Being recognized during Women’s History Month adds emotional significance to her accomplishments and motivates her to continue giving her best each day.

Advice for Future Trailblazers

Andrea offers thoughtful guidance for women considering careers in operations or manufacturing: “Don’t get discouraged by challenges. Stay consistent, work with dedication, and seek support when needed—without becoming dependent. With the right tools, you can do anything.” Her message reflects confidence, independence, and a commitment to possibility.

Celebrating Women at Bakelite

Andrea’s story exemplifies courage, determination, and progress. This Women’s History Month, we proudly honor her and all the women across Bakelite whose leadership and dedication strengthen our operations and move us toward a more inclusive future. As March continues, we look forward to sharing additional stories from women across our global network who are challenging norms, elevating our work, and shaping what’s possible at Bakelite.
