Bakelite Sponsors Tournaments to Benefit Local Communities

Bakelite Sites Sponsor Golf Tournaments Benefiting Local Communities

At Bakelite, we’re proud of our associates’ commitment to their local communities. Initiatives focused on making a positive social impact are a key component of our values, including sustainability.

Bakelite’s Western Commercial Team, Business and Construction, was a Gold Sponsor of the 20th annual ACCESS Golf Tournament, which took place June 24 at the Rogue Valley Country Club in Medford, Oregon.

The annual tournament benefits ACCESS, a community action agency for Jackson County, Oregon, which has been helping local residents break the cycle of poverty since 1976. ACCESS provides food, warmth, shelter and essential services to Jackson County’s more than 70,000 low-income residents, including children, families, seniors, veterans and people with disabilities.

Bakelite’s Conway site was a Gold Contributor for the annual Dr. Joe Fleetwood Golf Classic, which took place June 29 at the Valley Pine Country Club in Lasker, North Carolina.

Bakelite’s donation has a multifaceted impact on the Conway community. Our donation is used to:

  • Purchase U.S. flags for the town for Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day and Veterans Day.
  • Purchase U.S. flags to be placed by veterans’ graves on Memorial Day.
  • Donate money to individuals in the community who are having medical issues to help with travel to and from hospital and doctor visits.
  • Sponsor children’s baseball and basketball teams in the Northampton County Recreation League.
  • Donate money to the local churches for youth group activities.
  • Fund a scholarship for a Conway-area high school senior who is going to college.
  • Upkeep the Conway Community building, which is owned by the Conway Women’s Club and is also used for private gatherings.
  • Purchase and donate 50 fruit baskets to elderly and homebound community members during the holidays.
