At Bakelite, we believe that by supporting our local communities, we are investing in the well-being of the people and places that support us, fostering positive relationships and contributing to a better future for all. Our efforts are diverse and range from organizing food drives to volunteering at local organizations. Our commitment to community is woven into the fabric of our operations—from the neighborhoods where we work to the global networks we support. We strive to be a responsible neighbor, an engaged partner, and a catalyst for positive change.
We actively support the communities where we operate through:

2024 Community Engagement
We’re investing in the next generation of innovators and makers. Our global teams came together to make the winter holidays brighter for those in need. From gift drives and disaster relief to food support and school donations, over 200 associates helped more than 2,000 individuals across our communities.
- In Acme, North Carolina, USA, associates collected and
donated more than 70 winter clothing items for families affected by Hurricane Helene. - In response to devastating flash flooding in Valencia, Spain, associates in Lantaron quickly mobilized to support recovery efforts. The site’s HR and EHS teams gathered essential supplies, which Bakelite Operator Jorge García Martin personally delivered to the affected areas.
- In Albany, Oregon, associates gave generously to the “Boxes and Bows” Holiday Gift Drive to benefit local foster children.

A team of Bakelite associates from the Taylorsville site recently played in a local charity golf tournament that raised funds to fight childhood food insecurity and hunger.
Bakelite’s Lufkin site participated in the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program. This year, the site donated items for roughly 30 local children and seniors in need.
Bakelite’s Crossett site participated in the community’s local Christmas Wish Project, which collects holiday gifts for local children in need.
The Bakelite Botlek BV – Seattleweg office recently supported the Proteas Foundation with a €1,500 donation for the Book Club Program
As part of Bakelite’s holiday community engagement initiative, our sites in Germany supported the Balthasar children’s hospice in Olpe, Germany
Cowie associates donated food items for one of the school’s food banks, which serves local families in need.
Associates at the Columbus plant collected sporting equipment, clothing and other items to donate to Watkins Elementary School.
Bakelite Women’s Network is hosting a Global Giving Initiative through January 31, 2025, benefitting UNICEF, the United Nations agency for children.
Bakelite’s Atlanta and Decatur sites have kicked off their “Share the Warmth” Coat Drive.

As the weather gets colder in the Northern Hemisphere, Bakelite’s Acme site is giving back to the local community. Associates at the site are collecting and donating winter gear to families in need in western North Carolina.
